On Sunday I ate until I felt sick, but when I looked at how much food had been left over on my plate at the restaurant, it didn't seem like much. Ate some cheese dip later that night. Monday I was almost exactly five pounds heavier. I was surprised; yes even after all this time I can still be surprised by weight fluxuations.

Now that I've jogged most of my route several times in a row, I feel a lot of pressure to jog each time now, even when I don't particularly feel like it. Monday I jogged most of the route, 3 miles I figure. I had a lot more endurance, likely due to eating. Tonight however, was torture, but I did well anyhow, only breaking into a walk for about a block more than usual.

Every time I go out I wish I would never have to again. Have some sort of bloodblister on one of my toes. Sweat like crazy, I am a little paranoid about electrolytes. Bugs are always in my face. Almost got run over by an SUV tonight.

Last of the Snack Barz

So I blogged about how I bought 15 boxes of Reese's Snack Barz, that I have only found in one place, the local Alco. Well I went there yesterday, and there were no more boxes. None. No placeholder that I could find for them either. After my current stash is gone, I may never see one again. I'm glad I bought a bunch.

Relax Bro

I need to chill. It's hard though. I feel like my life is descending down a crapper. A really slow flushing crapper. But really, it's not. Not when looked at objectively. I just need to relax, focus on my fitness (see how I switched that word in place of weight loss?), contemplate what I will do in the long term, maybe try to get some experience in windows 7 and god-forbid macintosh, play some games, and have fun. My time will come. I will kick ass and take names. It's ok that I'm not doing anything productive right now... just breath.

Movie Review: Bad Lieutenant

This movie is long. It's long and it doesn't seem to do much for the first hour. It then seems to just pile on layer upon layer of tension. Not really good tension, kind of annoying why-are-you-doing-this-to-yourself tension. Then things start to look up, and it redeems itself somewhat. It's an extremely odd movie in a few short scenes. Overall I liked it, mostly.

Wasteland Boredom

Found it hard to get into Fallout 3 today. Still played it for a couple hours, but really found myself lacking direction. Nothing I'm particularly enthused about doing. I know the game top to bottom anymore. I think it would have been cool for them to add onto the DC area, rather than shipping us off to different zones (without radio I might add) in the addons. They could release 20 hours of new gameplay every month for 10 bucks and be raking it in.

Rented Liberty City Stories, and I may try another playthrough of Dragon Age. Still struggling through Starcraft 2, and neglecting Rock Band too much. I want to enjoy things. It's difficult.

UFC: Jones vs Matyushenko - opinions

Not to take anything away from Jones who clearly was the superior fighter Sunday night, but I'm getting a little tired of these mounted crucifix victories. They seem cheap. The perpetrator of the move wins simply from the inability of the victim to defend themselves, and not from tapping out, or being knocked out, or even being injured. While it's possible that Jones's elbows would have proved effective in that position, we never got to find out. Herb Dean stopped the fight after only a few strikes. Matyushenko showed no signs of abuse on his face. He was never rocked, never knocked out, and did not submit.

While one can argue that the stoppage was or would have eventually been legitimate, the fact remains that it could not have happened so quickly and anti-climactically with the absence of such a maneuver. One also needs to look at other fights that ended in that fashion. Two come to mind. Nelson vs Slice and Hughes vs Penn 2. In both of those instances, the agressor delivered pathetic strikes from the mounted crucifix, and the fights were stopped only because neither victim could get out of it for a very long period of time.

I honestly feel a rules change is needed. While I wouldn't outright ban the crucifix mount itself, I think it might be a good idea to revise fight stoppage based on inability to defend oneself. If the victim is being pummeled by an opponent that has freedom of movement, then that's one thing. But if one of their arms is occupied to maintain a position, and they are positioned in such a way as to make their strikes have less impact (like most ground positions), then stoppage should not occur due ONLY to failure to defend themselves. Just my opinion on the matter.
