I had this funny fantasy about getting down to 160 by this friday and was going to enjoy some pulled pork sandwiches. That's pretty much out the window now. I suppose if it were cloudy out tomorrow and I walk 20 miles while dehydrating myself it would be possible, but I would never do that.

I got my new phone battery for the htc Incredible. It was renamed Droid Incredible. Such a dumb name for a phone. Anyways, the battery is big, so it comes with a replacement cover. Even though it's China made and very cheap (15 bucks), it is actually of very good quality and build, and looks a lot better than the Verizon and Seidio replacement covers. The phone is about twice as thick now, and I actually think I like it. It's a big weighty brick of a phone, but even at double the thickness it's not really that huge. Smartphones even a couple years ago were this thick starting out, which was how I was able to find a holster that fit it almost perfectly.

I don't actually use the phone that often anymore. I stopped playing this game called pocket empires because it was pointless, and I was sort of addicted to just constantly running along it's treadmill, but I forced myself to stop. I may play Mother 3 on it (Would have been called Earthbound 2 in the US had it ever been released there, for those familiar with Earthbound).

Now that I've gone on a travelling strike, the usefullness of the phone has been cut in half. I think I'll listen to it while I go walking at least. I'm a little self-conscious about these earphones I have. They loop around the ears so they are handy, but probably look a little retarded.

Review: Caprica (first 9 episodes)

It reminds me of Buffy the vampire slayer or some other CW show with teen angsty crap. For the thousandth time, kids are stupid, and their daily lives and stupid ideas are simply not worth putting on TV shows. Please cease and desist.

Luckily it does cease with that for the most part, but then it delves into several rehashed ideas. The matrix, terminator, etc etc. It's dissapointing that it didn't have a lot more to do with BSG. Honestly how cylon AI came to be is not all that interesting to me, especially given the revelations in the final season of BSG.

Spoiler Alert: A couple episodes in, this rather annoying star of the show's character gets stuck in the body of an early cylon prototype. But instead of just showing the robot, every once in a while (see every other scene) it shows the girl instead, even though that makes no sense. I think it's like "hey empathize with the poor robot girl cause this is who it is inside" and I'm like "I don't give a fuck get that chick off the screen and just show what's actually there".

Snack Pack Plug: Smartfoods has two different snack packs that I like a whole lot. Both are popcornish. One is 120 calories a bag and has caramel popcorn. The other is white cheddar flavored and only 100 calories a bag. Both are really good, and very satisfying considering the calorie count. While true that you can get bigger quantites of popcorn by popping them yourself, I find it a pain to get them popped right, and those 100 calorie bags are very bland by comparison.

Impressions: Alpha Protocol for PS3

Dog crap comes to mind. The graphics are poor, and at the same time the framerate is also well below 30fps most of the time. The game tries to be cool by bluring things out that you aren't looking at, but instead it's just disorienting and looks awful. It's difficult to aim, and maybe I suck but on my first real mission I've already run out of ammo. I apparently should have specialized in martial arts. The dialog thusfar has been uncompelling, and the premise of the game is rather pedestrian with it's secret agent vs terrorism introduction. I'm sure it gets juicier, I'm just not sure I'll ever get to that point. It's made by the developers who will be responsible for Fallout: New Vegas. I'm hoping most of their efforts and talent went into the latter title.

Gaming Update: Just got an email from gamestop, offering free overnight shipping on Starcraft 2 and Fallout New Vegas. I was about to give up on finding such an offer on Fallout, so that's awesome. Me and girlfriend sold back like 25 games and had a lot of credit. I wasn't actually going to get Starcraft 2, but I'm sort of bored, and it's coming out in just 6 days, and well free shipping. So I ordered them both. I probably have enough left on my Gamestop card for one more game, it will likely be Rockband 3 when they offer free overnight shipping for it.
